ECU announced on it's news services that 10 COVID-19 cases was discovered in the baseball team.

East Carolina University notified its community on Jan. 14 that a cluster of COVID-19 cases has developed within the baseball team.

According to ECU News Services, 10 cases have been discovered within the baseball team. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services defines a cluster as more than five positive cases within a 14-day period. A cluster is taken off the active list after a 28-day period of no positive cases.

ECU News Services said the individuals have been notified and contact tracing protocols have been initiated. Close contacts will be notified and given further guidance by health professionals.

“The university will not broadly communicate details about individual positive cases, consistent with the State Human Resources Act and FERPA, as well as other privacy considerations,” the release said.
