Valentine’s Day celebrations in the Greenville, North Carolina, community will carry on in a new, safe manner this year to adhere to COVID-19 restrictions.
Josh Davis, the general manager of Stumpy’s Hatchet House, located at 816 Dickinson Ave, said in comparison to previous Valentine’s Days, this year Stumpy’s will focus on not just couples but groups of people who are already close.
“After everything we have been through with COVID-19 we wanted to target getting people back in small groups of family and friends again. Everybody’s got a circle of family or friends that they trust year around,” Davis said.
With hopes to limit the spread of the virus while still hosting the newly modified Valetnine’s Day event, Davis said Stumpy’s would like to see those who have already been around each other within their small groups to join the activities. He said if individuals have already pracited social distancing and kept their circles small, it would be ideal.
“We want to get those people to come back out since they are already around each other and come out and do some fun activities again,” Davis said.
Groups of six or more people who come in for a two hour party will receive a free premium Stumpy’s T-shirt per person, Davis said. He said there will still be free desserts for couples, as Stumpy’s has offered in previous years.
Davis said groups of more than 10 will not be admitted for entry into the establishment. He said he asks for groups to be of people that you are close to and are in your circle. He said all surfaces will be sanitized between guests, and groups will be kept at a safe distance from one another.
Cafe Duo, located at 505 Red Banks Rd., will offer a three course prix fixe dinner menu for $60 per person in honor of Valentine's Day from 5 to 9 p.m., according to its Facebook page.
The Ambassadors of 252, an event planning group, will host a “Valentines Day Lit Games n’ Paint” event from 6 to 10 p.m. at Smoke Out Hookah Bar located at 204 E. 5th St. The event will have a DJ and will offer a chance for attendees to dance, play games and paint on canvases, according to the groups Facebook page.
The website said couples, singles and groups are welcome and all attendees must wear face masks. Tickets range from $35 to $60 and can be purchased on their eventbrite page.
