The intersection of Reade Circle and Evans Street will be reopened by the end of July 24.

Greenville announced yesterday the intersection of Reade Circle and Evans Street will be reopened by the end of today, around a month earlier than expected.

The intersection has been closed since February as part of the Town Creek Culvert project, the announcement said. The project will continue as the city closes a portion of W Ninth St. as well as a part of W Eighth St. and Ficklen St.

The intersection of Reade Circle and Evans St. was the final major closure in the project, and the entire project will be concluded in the next several months with smaller closures around uptown.

“I think the finishing early can largely be attributed to there have been no kinds of issues with running into things underground that were unexpected,” Greenville’s Public Information Officer Brock Letchworth said. “The other thing is weather, you know, the weathers been pretty dry for the most part and that has helped expedite the process quite a bit.”

Letchworth said the entire Town Creek Culvert Project was projected to end by the end of 2020, but now the project may finish by October.
