Various winners of East Carolina University’s “Back to ECU” homecoming events were announced on Oct. 2 during the homecoming football game against Tulane.

Student Body President Chandler Ward and Homecoming Chair Savannah Boyd announced senior public health major Sophie Villani as the 2021 Captain of the Ship.

The overall winners of the large organization spirit cup competition were first place Chi Omega and Kappa Sigma, second place Delta Zeta and Alpha Sigma Phi and third place Zeta Tau Alpha and Sigma Pi. The overall winners for the small spirit cup competition were first place College Diabetes Network and second place Pirates for Down Syndrome Awareness. 

The winners of the large organization canned food drive were first place Phi Mu and Men’s Club Rugby, second place Alpha Xi Delta and Alpha Tau Omega and third place ECU Ambassadors and Alpha Omicron Pi. The overall winners for the small spirit cup competition were College Diabetes Network, Kappa Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega and Anchored: Campus Ministry.

The winners of the large organization banner competition were first place Chi Omega and Kappa Sigma, second place ECU Ambassadors and Alpha Omicron Pi and third place Alpha Delta Pi and Kappa Alpha. The overall winners for the small spirit cup competition were first place College Diabetes Network and second place Pirates for Down Syndrome Awareness. 

The winners of the large organization skit competition were first place Zeta Tau Alpha and Sigma Pi, second place Alpha Gamma Delta and Delta Sigma Phi and third place Delta Zeta and Alpha Sigma Phi. 

The winners of the large organization float competition were first place Delta Zeta and Alpha Sigma Phi, second place Chi Omega and Kappa Sigma and third place Zeta Tau Alpha and Sigma Pi.
