“The safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans is of the utmost importance,” ECU Athletic Director Jon Gilbert said in a press release. “This is an evolving situation and we have been in constant communication with Interim Chancellor Ron Mitchelson and the American Athletic Conference. It is imperative we take the necessary precautionary steps and we will continue to communicate our plans moving forward.”
ECU also announced season and single-game tickets for softball and baseball games will be refunded while further information will be passed along as it becomes available.
Impacted sports include the university’s baseball, softball, tennis, lacrosse, track and field and golf programs. Additionally, ECU football spring practice, scheduled to bring on March 17, will also be pushed back.
