Due to Hurricane Dorian, the East Carolina University women’s soccer team has been forced to cancel its home game against the University of North Carolina at Wilmington on Thursday night. As a result, the team will be adding another game to its schedule, and will play at the University of North Carolina at Asheville on Friday afternoon.
Announced on ecupirates.com, the threat of inclement weather was too great to continue the match. “It is the second straight season the contest between the Pirates and the Seahawks has been forced to be cancelled due to weather as Hurricane Florence affected the plans during the 2018 campaign,” the press release stated. ECU (0-2-1 AAC) and UNCW (3-1) will fail to play once again.

ECU will now play two away games this weekend, one on Friday against Asheville and another at the Virginia Military Institute at 1 p.m. This will be the first matchup between the Pirates and VMI in both school’s histories, while ECU faced UNC Asheville back in 1997.
Friday’s game against Asheville will kick off at 1 p.m.
